Arizona International
Hotel
47 National Highway, Barrio
Barretto,
Olongapo
The
sun sets between two
mountain peaks across the bay and it is incredible. As the rosy color
disappears from the clouds you watch the waves lap the beach. Sitting
in a
comfortable chair, feet propped up on the seawall, a cold drink in one
hand and
the one you love sitting next to you, what could be better? Welcome to the Arizona International Hotel
This little hotel
along the National Highway
in Barrio Barretto has to be one of the best-kept secrets of the area
and by
far the best value. The hotel is hidden beyond large white walls
leaving it
isolated from the busy area as well as insulated from it. The hotel is
one of
the few beachfront hotels in the area, and has a swimming pool that
fronts on
the beach.
Its
26 rooms are
well appointed, each with its own air conditioning, color televisions
with
cable, full size mirrors and queen size bed(s). The
family rooms are the most popular; designed for four
to six
adults.
Two of the family rooms are poolside in a separate building. There is
also a
family room on the ground floor of the main building with its own patio
and
entrance and a second floor family room with a beachfront balcony.
The
hotel
features a very nice fully air-conditioned restaurant, which serves a
variety
of Filipino and international meals. Most guests however prefer to have
their
meals outdoors. Just outside the doors of the restaurant is the bar
area. The
full bar serves a full range of drinks and the meals from the
restaurants menu.
Guest can sit around the bar or around the shaded pool area. The pool
area is
elevated above the beach allowing some separation. There is also a
small beach
bar that overlooks the beach and during the summer individual tables
and
umbrellas right on the beach. An Upstairs open patio with panoramic
views of
the beach and ocean is generally used for larger groups and parties but
is also
available for individuals and couples. In 2004
the
hotel won the “Cleanest and Greenest Hotel” award from the City of Olongapo. That
award is
based on the overall cleanliest, health inspections and environmental
friendliness. In 2005 they did one better by being awarded the
“Healthiest
Hotel “ award by the city and regional health departments.
The hotel is popular with both domestic and
international guest, and has a large repeat clientele. It has on
premise
secured parking for 20 vehicles The resort will be host to at least 2
International Elite runners and will provide a race day shuttle.
